Creative and Expressive Arts have a high profile at Ladywood. We work with a range of artists, arts organisations and art forms, to develop learner’s individual interests, talents, and points of learning. The Creative Arts enriches our curriculum and threads through all areas.
In addition to having a strong creative arts team within school, children and young people have access to visiting practitioners such as actors, dancers, , musicians, the museum and library service and artists This further supports progress in the priority areas underpinning our ‘creative curriculum’,communication, thinking skills, and personal and social development. Learners in KS2 have opportunities to gain Arts Award Discover or Explore.
We are part of the Bolton Cultural Learning Partnership exploring how we can improve the local cultural offer in schools for all children. We have strong partnerships with local arts and cultural organisations such as the Octagon and Bolton Library and Museum. We also work alongside Curious Minds the Northern bridge organisation for the Arts Council on the Specialist Leaders of Cultural Education programme.
Locally we participate in the Bolton Music Festival, the Royal Exchange drama festival and the Bolton Dance festival ensuring our pupils have multiple opportunities to perform and show their talents. With our cluster schools we are looking at how we can bring people together and solve local problems using the creative arts. Little Lever Children Love Little Lever.
